Botulinum toxin injection<\/h2>\n

Botulinum toxin (also known as Botox, Alluzience, Bocouture) has been used to reduce facial wrinkles for some twenty years.<\/p>\n

How does botulinum toxin work?<\/h2>\n

Botulinum toxin acts by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that transmits nerve signals to muscles. The result is reversible paralysis of the muscles concerned. <\/p>\n

How is the injection session carried out?<\/h2>\n

During the botulinum toxin injection session, the dermatologist will ask you to make “grimaces” to define the injection points and the quantity to be injected. Injections are painless and do not require the application of anaesthetic cream. <\/p>\n

When are results visible?<\/h2>\n

Results are visible after one week and are maintained for an average of 4 months. If asymmetry persists 10 days after the injection, a correction session is quickly proposed. It is important to take certain precautions after a botulinum toxin session to avoid complications. <\/p>\n

What precautions should be taken after the session?<\/h2>\n

For 3 hours after the injection, it is recommended not to lie down, not to massage the injected areas, not to do sports, sauna or hammam, and not to wear a helmet or swimming or diving goggles.<\/p>\n

Which toxin (Botox, Alluzience, Bocouture, etc.) is best?<\/h2>\n

The various toxins are all effective in treating wrinkles. There are slight differences, which your dermatologist will be able to explain to you during your consultation. <\/p>\n

What are the possible side effects of botulinum toxin injections?<\/h2>\n

Side effects of botulinum toxin are generally mild and transient. They may include redness, bruising or headaches (rare). No more than 3 botulinum toxin sessions per year are recommended. <\/p>\n

What are the contraindications to botulinum toxin injections?<\/h2>\n

Contraindications to the use of botulinum toxin include: neuromuscular diseases (e.g. myasthenia), allergy to botulinum toxin, pregnancy and breast-feeding.<\/p>\n

How much do botulinum toxin injections cost?<\/h2>\n

Cost on quotation: from 165 euros excluding VAT (or 200 euros including 21% VAT).<\/p>\n
