Melasma is often triggered by hormonal changes (pregnancy, contraceptives) and\/or sun exposure. <\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Post-inflammatory scars<\/strong>: dark spots can appear after inflammatory skin lesions, such as acne, eczema or wounds.
