Profhilo®
What is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® is composed of high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, highly concentrated and non-cross-linked. It is injected into the dermis to deeply hydrate the skin and stimulate fibroblast production of collagen and elastin(biostimulation principle). Profhilo® is often used to improve skin texture and elasticity, reduce fine wrinkles and give a more toned, smoother appearance. Unlike other treatments such as fillers or botulinum toxin, Profhilo® works by improving the overall quality of the skin. Skin areas that can be treated include: face, neck, décolleté, stomach and back of hands.
How does the session work?
During the session, the dermatologist will disinfect the skin and inject Profhilo® into the dermis. Resumption of activity is immediate.
When are results visible?
The first results generally appear a few weeks after the session, with continued improvement over the months. Two sessions, 1 month apart, are required for optimal results. Thereafter, 1 session every 6 to 9 months is recommended to maintain results.
What precautions should I take before the session?
It is necessary to apply Emla® anaesthetic cream 1 hour before the appointment to ensure maximum patient comfort during the injections.
What precautions should be taken after the session?
After the session, the skin may be slightly red and swollen. Make-up can be applied without any problem. UV exposure is not recommended for ten days. Sunscreen 50+ is recommended.
What are the possible side effects of Profhilo® injections?
The components of Profhilo® are safe and 100% biocompatible. Symptoms may include bruising and slight swelling at the injection site, which generally disappears after 48 hours. These symptoms usually disappear within a few hours to a few days. The risk of infection is low when injections are performed by a dermatologist. The risk of allergy to one of the components of Profhilo® is low, but does exist.
What are the contraindications to Profhilo® injections?
Contraindications include: active autoimmune diseases, inflammatory skin diseases, active skin infections (herpes, impetigo, etc.), hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, pregnancy and breast-feeding.
