Sculptra®: collagen firming treatment

Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid or PLLA) is an injectable treatment used to stimulate the skin's natural collagen production.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid or PLLA) is an injectable treatment used to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production. Unlike conventional fillers (such as hyaluronic acid), Sculptra works by reactivating the body’s own collagen synthesis, delivering natural, long-lasting results.
Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a bioresorbable, biocompatible substance, has been used for years in surgery. PLLA stimulates skin fibroblasts to produce collagen, improving skin firmness and thickness over several weeks.

What are the indications for Sculptra?

Sculptra is mainly used for :

  • Treat signs of skin aging: sagging skin, hollow cheeks,
  • Improve skin texture, firmness and luminosity.
  • Treat face, neck, back of hands

When will the results be visible?

The effect of the injections can be seen 4-6 weeks after the first session, and continues to improve for up to 6 months after the session.

How long do the results last? How many injections are needed?

The number of sessions required depends on the patient’s age and the initial condition of her skin.
In general, 2 sessions are required, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session every year or 2, depending on the patient’s age, hormonal status, basic body metabolism and lifestyle.

The product is injected into the deep dermis using a cannula.

After the session, the patient should massage the injected areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days.
No aggressive treatment (e.g. surgery, laser, peeling) for at least 2 weeks after the Sculptra injection session.
