PRP Microneedling

Coup d’éclat naturel

What is microneedeling?

Microneedling, or skin microperforation, is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the skin by stimulating collagen production through the use of a pen with needles that penetrate 0.5 to 2.5 mm into the skin. These micro-perforations create controlled micro-lesions on the skin, triggering a natural repair process.
The skin begins to produce more collagen and elastin, essential proteins for maintaining skin elasticity, firmness and texture, which improves the overall appearance of the skin.
The skin will show a reduction in fine lines, a reduction in pore width, an improvement in skin texture and a more even skin tone.

What is PRP?

PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, is a medical treatment used in aesthetic medicine, dermatology and sports medicine to promote tissue healing and regeneration.

PRP is a concentration of platelets obtained from the patient’s own blood. Platelets are blood components that play a key role in wound healing and tissue regeneration, as they release growth factors that stimulate the repair of damaged cells.

A small quantity of blood is drawn from the patient (similar to a conventional blood test). The blood is then placed in a centrifuge, a rapidly rotating device that separates the various components of the blood. This stage isolates platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood (red blood cells, white blood cells and platelet-poor plasma). The platelet-rich plasma is then recovered for use in treatment.

How does the session work?

During the session, the dermatologist will draw blood and separate the PRP from the blood using a centrifuge. She will then clean and disinfect the skin, and pass the microneedling device over the area to be treated. The PRP will then be applied to the treated area (this procedure is also known as “Vampire lift”). The session generally lasts 40 minutes.

When are results visible?

The first results generally appear a few weeks after the session, with continued improvement over the months. Several sessions (3 to 6 on average) are often required to achieve optimal results. Microneedling is a popular option for those seeking to improve the quality of their skin using gentler techniques.

What precautions should I take before the session?

It is necessary to stop taking vitamin A-based treatments (retinol, tretinoin, etc.) 2 weeks before the session.
The skin must be clean, makeup-free and free of creams (sunscreen or moisturizer) on the day of treatment.

What precautions should be taken after the session?

After the session, the skin may be slightly red and sensitive, like a mild sunburn. It’s important to moisturize the skin, avoid the sun and apply sunscreen 50+.

What are the possible side effects of microneedeling?

Side effects are generally mild and transient. They may include redness, swelling, and sometimes light bleeding. The risk of infection and discoloration is low.

What are the contraindications to microneedeling?

Contraindications to microneedling include: taking vitamin A derivatives (Roacutane®), recent dermabrasion or laser treatment (less than 2 months old), taking anticoagulants, a history of keloid scars, an active skin infection (herpes, impetigo, etc.), pregnancy and breast-feeding.

How much does a session cost?

Face: from 330 euros/session excluding VAT or 400 euros/session including 21% VAT.

All aesthetic medicine services must be preceded by an informative consultation in which the dermatologist explains the technique used and the results you can expect.
