Skinbooster
What is a Skinbooster?
Skinbooster hyaluronic acid is a skin bioremodeler. It works by stimulating collagen and elastin production in the skin, while promoting increased hydration. The aim is to revitalize, firm, moisturize and smooth your skin without adding volume.
What are the indications for skin boosters?
Skinbooster hyaluronic acid is used to treat tired, sagging and dehydrated skin, as well as fine lines. It is commonly applied to the face, but also to the neck and hands.
It is not a dermal filler: it is not the right treatment for deep wrinkles or scars, nor for adding volume. It does not produce the same effects.
What are the contraindications to skinbooster injections?
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Raised scars: prone to keloids or hypertrophic scars
- Inflammation or active infection of the skin to be treated (impetigo, eczema)
- Autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, sarcoidosis, etc.)
- Allergy to hyaluronic acid, eggs, collagen or lidocaine
- Site already injected with a non-absorbable product (risk of granuloma)
- Previous treatment with Interferon (risk of sarcoidosis reaction)
How many sessions are needed to achieve results?
The treatment consists of 2 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. To maintain results, an injection is recommended every 6 to 9 months.
How does the session work?
You can come to the consultation without make-up. For greater comfort, Emla® can be applied to the cheeks 1 hour before the appointment. Dr Aurore Lé then proceeds with the injection. The sensation is generally painless.
When is the result visible?
Results appear progressively within 4 to 6 weeks. On average, they last 6 months, but this varies according to metabolism. Smoking, exposure to the sun, or a rapid metabolism can accelerate product resorption. Several cycles may be necessary for optimal results.
What are the possible complications of skinbooster injections?
Frequent:
- Mild pain on injection
- Ecchymoses (bruises) resorbable in 2 weeks, can be reduced with Arnigel®.
- Temporary sensitivity
Uncommon:
- Skin infection requiring antibiotics
- Herpes reactivation
- Granuloma
Rare:
- Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
- Vascular occlusion: very rare. In the event of an incident, Dr. Aurore Lé is trained to intervene urgently with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid and restores blood flow.
How much does a skinbooster session cost?
The price of a session for an injection of 1 ml of skinbooster is €300 excluding VAT, or €363 including VAT (21%).
All aesthetic medicine services must be preceded by an informative consultation in which the dermatologist explains the technique used and the results you can expect.
