What is PRP?
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a technique used in aesthetic medicine to stimulate hair regrowth and slow hair loss. It involves injecting your own blood plasma, rich in platelets and growth factors, directly into the scalp.
The aim of PRP injections is to stimulate hair regrowth and strengthen hair follicles to slow hair loss.
The indications for PRP injections are as follows:
- Androgenic alopecia: men and women suffering from mild to moderate baldness or androgenic alopecia.
- Improves hair quality: strengthens and thickens weakened hair.
- Hair loss linked to stress or non-specific causes.
How effective are PRP injections?
The effectiveness of PRP injections can vary from person to person, with a significant improvement in hair quality and density visible after 2 to 3 months.
The number of sessions is not standardized and depends from patient to patient. In general, 2 sessions spaced 1 month apart are required to re-launch hair growth. A semi-annual maintenance session is recommended.
PRP hair injections are often combined with other medical treatments, such as nutritional supplements, topical products, and possibly oral treatments to maximize results. They are best suited to the early to moderate stages of alopecia.
